Get it if you are new to the series December 28, 2008 Yes, the game is the exact same as the others in the series with a few changes. But that doesn't mean it isn't a good game. If you are new to the series I would advise you to purchase it, however, if you have other games in the series don't bother. You will be disappointed.
I enjoyed the playcalling features, but I would have desired more options for customizing your playbook. You can change formations, though, so that's cool. I was a bit disappointed to find they had taken out the hail mary formation, which contained Boise State's hook and ladder play. They do have the Bronco's statue of liberty play, but it is near impossible to run successfully.
I thought that the home-field advantage feature was cool while playing at the Swamp, Lane Stadium and in Norman.
My only other complaint is that some of the computer's actions are a little shady. Once I was covering a wide receiver with two corners, when Tyrod Taylor threw a ball probably 5 to 10 feet away from his man, when all of a sudden the receiver sped up, went to his knees and cradled the ball like Superman. Some other times I throw and ball that is clearly to my OWN receiver, and their corners somehow miraculously intercept my pass when my guy was wide open. Another complaint is that it is also almost impossible to block punts and field goals when you are playing against the CPU, and fumbles are way to frequent (if you don't change the settings, but there is no reason that should be the default).
Another note: this game, like ESPN, worships USC and Ohio State.
Have a Child all Football? December 20, 2008 Great game my child Loves it!!!! This is great for the child that is football crazy,,,he plays it during the cold blustery days!!!! Thanks
Good game for just PS2 September 17, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I only have a PS2, and haven't owned a game in the series for several years. Good game.
Basically the same every year, but still does the job September 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
No really big changes from the last couple of years, but always a fun game. It is a little more challenging having to use the joystick to juke instead of r1 and r2 but after killing every opponent during a 9 year dynasty...you need a new challenge. The new camera angle for returning punts and kickoffs pretty much sucks in the beginning but you get used to it. Pretty good game overall.
better luck next year August 20, 2008 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
NCAA Football 09 is a good game, but if you have the 08 version of this game you should probably skip it. This game is really fun, but it seems that EA Sports has not changed much at all. From the music, the title screen, the campus legend feature, and much more none of that has changed at all. In conclusion, if you have the 2008 version I would highley suggest to skip this year and hope for the best in 2010, but if you don't have 08 I would get it because even though this game is way to similar to the previous version it is still fun.
